Two Goodbyes, Chaos, And A Hello

An ancient evil is unleashed and it's up to Jake and his friends to save the day.

The plane blasted its engines as it fought gravity until it rose to the sky in triumph. A group of people watched as it flew away.

“Well, it’ll be awhile before we see Yuta or Barbara again,” Jake sighed.

“Did she really have to leave?” Mina had been brought to tears at the sight of her friend boarding the plane.

The group began to leave as Prof. Mato spoke, “Yes, I’m afraid so. Yuta’s powers make her need special living arrangements. And after the incident at the library I decided to send her to a friend who is working with artificial beings.

Sarah shuddered, “I’ve never seen THAT happen on a reading day.

Jake blissfully remembered, “That librarian was really cute…” Jen slapped him upside the head, “Ow!

The genie shook her head, “In any case, I’m still surprised that Barbara decided to go with her.”

“Really? Because after the sewer mutants invaded last month, I was kind of looking to move as well,” Jake still didn’t understand how Yoto, a city with seemingly endless numbers of disasters, didn’t become a ghost town.

“Yeah, and Dawn was not here to say goodbye either…” Diana pointed out.

Sarah looked annoyed, “That witch would have just ruined the entire moment. She’s probably knocking over a bank or something.” (Of course, once my team turns her in, she’ll rot in prison! And then I’ll get that promotion! HA HA HA HA HA!!!)

“Hey Sarah, what’s so funny?” Jake asked. Sarah blushed as she realized that she had been laughing out loud.

“Oh, I do hope Yuta will be all right. It’s a terribly long flight,” Prof. Mato said.

Jake remembered that he was the last one off the plane, and Yuta had already hypnotized Barbara and a female stewardess into stripping each other. “Uh, I’m sure she’ll be fine Prof.

The next day…

Prof. Mato was being lead into the most restricted area of the Yoto City Museum. “I’m so glad you agreed to come. The artifacts in question are very strange, and while we know some about one of them, well the other…” he trailed off as they stepped inside. Many people wearing white lab coats were working around two iron eggs three times the size of basketballs. “Prof. Hamilton!” the director called. A woman with short purple hair and glasses approached.
“Thank you director.” Prof. Mato, we’ve managed to decipher the many numerous symbols on the first ‘egg’. They appear to be warnings in every ancient language, including at least a dozen we never knew existed. However…
Mato nodded. While the first egg was covered in the many archaic symbols, the second egg had only one, largely displayed. “Curious…

One week later…

Prof. Hamilton supervised the laser being positioned over the first egg.
“Are you sure about this?” an assistant asked. “Mato said we should let him look up the eggs in his database before trying to do anything with them.
The woman nodded, “But he also said it could take months. I need to know more, so we’ll just open this one. Don’t worry; we have every precaution in place. Do it!
The assistant nodded and the laser began to cut into the first egg. Everything seemed fine, Hamilton looking on eagerly until...
Green mist began to vent from the egg. “Contamination!” someone shouted.

“NO!!!” Hamilton watched in vain as an eerie mist began to overtake the room faster than anyone could have reacted. Many workers began coughing violently. Hamilton ran for the door, she too began to breathe too much mist.  As her vision began to fade away, she suddenly became aware that the first people who had been infected suddenly straightened up. They then began walking out of the room as if they were zombies, some even with their arms straight out. (What…is…going…?) The Prof.'s mind suddenly screeched to a halt.

Two female museum tour guides were near the entrance were simply talking. One of them, a human, noticed a large crowd coming towards the door. “Hey, where is everyone going? Don’t we open in ten minutes?

The other, a bunny girl, began walking towards the group, “Hey, guys you should all really get back to…” she stopped a few feet away when she finally realized that all of their eyes were completely white. “Um, guys?” the bunny squeaked out. Suddenly a worker on her left grabbed her. The bunny could only shriek as the worker began to exhale a strange green gas that she was forced to breathe in.

“What are you?!?!” the other worker suddenly felt a pair of hands on her. Two zombies had come from behind! As she struggled she watched helplessly as the group marched past her, arms straight out to grab more victims. She saw her friend quickly stop fighting and began to walk with the crowd, the bunny’s eyes already fading to white….

Two hours later….

“The situation has grown horrible here in downtown!” a female reporter was screaming into her mike from helicopter. She usually didn’t fly, but the other ground teams that had gotten close to the expanding zombie lines had been taken just like everyone else. “This is Misato reporting live, and below me is the first major line of defense that authorities had managed to construct against this epidemic. However, over a thousand of the infected are just minutes away from hitting the line, and authorities are not willing to use lethal force due to the fact the security footage from the Yoto Museum shows this to be a disease infecting innocent people. Authorities urge everyone to stay indoors and…

“Stunners only!” shouted the district captain in charge. Sarah flipped her sidearm over to the appropriate setting, praying that it worked. She had never seen anything like this. She looked out over the crowd approaching them, and wondered how you could stop something like this. Her eyes widened when she saw Jen among the numbers. If they could get a genie, then what could be done? “FIRE!!!” Like a reflex Sarah opened up with all the charges her gun had built up, just like over a hundred other officers. The stunners hit the line of zombies, slowing it….They were falling! Could it be? The officers cheered, the captain smiled, “Right lads! Now let’s finish ‘em….” his mouth dropped open as most of the fallen zombies started to get up. “Not possible!” was all he could think of before issuing all weapons free. Sarah didn’t bother firing like her cohorts; she could already see it was useless. An average zombie took multiple shots before going down, and they almost always got back up. The advance was slowed, but only by a few minutes until finally zombies hit the line and climbed over the barricade by sheer numbers. Sarah saw Jen knock and officer down and then straddled him as she exhaled the same gas they were warned to stay away from. Sarah took off for her cycle and got on, glancing back once more to see officers become the same mindless minions they had tried to stop. She sped away, as the police did the best retreat possible. Sarah had to get to Prof. Mato. With the authorities powerless, all she could think of was a crazy scientist might be able to do something…

Mina and Diana were running down the halls. They had been in class when some horrible things had started overtaking the school, and now students and faculty were turning the others into some weird kind of zombies. They turned down a hall…and bumped into one. Mina was knocked back and down, while the zombie caught Diana and began emitting the gas. “Diana!” Mina was terrified. Diana struggled, and suddenly stopped. Diana turned and began walking towards Mina, her arms coming eagerly to grab her friend and brainwash her. “Di...ana?” Mina squeaked out. Both Diana and the staff member kept coming. Mina turned to run and bumped into another figure. She screamed and fell to her knees, hands over her head and…

“HEY!” she looked up and saw a confused Jake standing there. “I’m sorry I bumped into you but does your volume have to be on full?

Mina jumped to her feet and hugged him, “Jake! IWasSoScaredZombieThingiesAreEverywhereAndTheyKeepComingAndIDon’tKnowWhat’s…

“Mina! I can’t understand girls when they talk that fast!

“Look!” Mina pointed to Diana and the other, how they were changed, and waited for the expected scream form Jake to,

“That is so awesome!

Mina looked up confused, “What…?

“I mean look at them! They’re zombies! Man, I used to play Biohazard all the time. Is this like the games? Where are the mutants?” Jake glanced around searching for them. “When do we stumble upon the conspiracy?

“Jake, this isn’t cool! Diana is a thing! And we can’t get away from them! We are doooooommmmmeeeeeddd!!!” Mina began to cry again.

Jake watched for the next ten seconds as the two slowly walked over. “You’re kidding right? Christmas will come before these guys.” Mina continued crying. ‘Fine, I’ll just use all the information I have. Life is much simpler when compared to a video game. And there is the all important golden rule of survival horror games.

Mina sniffed, “What’s that?

“Discretion is the better part of valor,” and with that Jake threw Mina over his shoulder and ran like hell in the opposite direction.

Mina was shocked, “Wait! What about Diana? We can’t just leave her!

“Can’t take an infected with us, and no offense but I don’t think we can afford to have you try your magic lottery see which spell I accidentally cast trick. So, RUN AWAY!

“But…

“Look will you just trust me?” Jake turned his head to Mina’s side. Unfortunately, with her over his shoulder and the sexy low cut uniforms that were common in this dimension, Jake had a perfect view of Mina’s rear in cute panties with little red hearts all over them. “Nice…

“What was that Jake?

“Um…nothing!”

Jake and Mina arrived back at Mato’s and locked the gate behind them. Both were gasping for air, having run all the way from the school. “That was hard,” Jake gasped

“Are we safe here?” asked Mina.

“Should be, Prof. Mato’s security system is good enough to keep mistakes in. So hopefully it can keep mind controlled zombies out.” The two began walking up the drive to the door. Suddenly multiple shock guns popped up out of the ground and pointed at the two teens.

<WELCOME TO THE MATO RESIDENCE. DUE TO THE HIGH LEVEL ALERT ISSUED FOR THE CITY, IT IS REQUIRED FOR YOU TO SPEAK THE SECURITY PASSWORD BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO PROCEED>

“Jake, tell me you know the password,” Mina told him as the two suddenly found themselves back to back.

“Um, is it toast?

<NEGATIVE>

“How could you not know the password to your house?

“I’m sorry. Mato told me but that was the day I went to the beach last month, and I had new hypnotic suggestions to try out and…

“That’s just great, how could you…wait, I went to the beach that day,” Mina looked curiously at Jake, “What did you have me do?

“Would you believe nothing?

“No

“Nuts

“Jake, what did you hypnotize me into doing last month?!

“Could we please discuss this later?

“Fine, I’ll handle this one,” Mina’s eyes and stone pendant glowed blue.

“Wait, what are you doing?

“Turning us invisible so we can walk by

“Your spell casting isn’t the most accurate Mina…

“Don’t worry, I’ve been practicing all summer,” Mina thrust her hand into the air, “Go Lovely Magic!!!” And with that a column of water burst up from the ground underneath the machines and short circuited them. “Oops.” Jake looked at her in disbelief. “Well, that should teach you to lay off both the hypnosis and criticism. I’m a much better magic user than when we first met, and…

<HOSTILE INTENT DETECTED. SWITCHING OVER TO LETHAL RESPONS SYSTEMS> and with THAT lovely note, flamethrowers, rocket launchers, and machine guns rose up. Soon over fifty tracers winked onto the two students. <PLEASE PREPARE TO SURRENDER AND DIE. THE ORDER OF THESE ACTIONS IS OPTIONAL>

Mina looked very embarrassed. “So, does the all powerful magic girl have anything else up her sleeve?” asked Jake

Mina began to panic, “Wait! We can negotiate.

Jake jerked a thumb back to Mina, “Would you please kill her first at least?”

<I AM SORRY; THIS VERSION OF HOME SHEILD DOES NOT ACCEPT LAST REQUESTS. PLEASE ASK THE RESIDENT TO UPGRADE TODAY>

“Dumb, cheap, Mato…

Suddenly with a roar a police cycle leapt over the gate. Pods opened up on either side and grenades began exploding all over the place as Sarah entered the scene. Mina and Jake began running around, arms flailing like crazy until Sarah tucked each under an arm as she rocketed past. She was bearing down on the front door at an incredible speed until she jumped off at the last moment, sending the bike crashing through the front door. Sarah came in just a second later, rolling forward twice before stopping with one knee on the ground and both friends safely inside. “Sorry, I hope you two are alright,” she said as she sat them down and brushed a strand of hair from her eyes.

Jake and Mina lay stunned and spiral-eyed on the ground. “I really must find new roommates,” he mumbled

Mato was in his lab, alternating between the live news coverage and odd pictures of ancient relics, “I wish you would have the grace to not level a genius’ security system when coming home Sarah

“It’s okay,” Mina said, “because Jake had forgotten the password

Jake slapped his hand on his forehead, “Of course, all the girls where in swimsuits, so the Prof. decided to make the password boobies!

“Yes, I needed something…easy to remember,” Mato said, accidentally staring at Sarah’s and Mina’s chests as he explained.

SLAP! SLAP!

Both girls looked annoyed and crossed their arms in front of them as the Prof. was knocked down on his rear, “Hey! That’s no way to treat a genius, especially now that I’ve found the solution to our problem

“Really?” Jake asked.

“Of course! I’m a genius!” Mato led them to the screens, “See? These eggs I’ve researched tell an ancient tale. Once, when good and evil fought each other, evil sought a way to control the mortal populations of this planet. They developed the ‘mind plague’ which would wash away all conscious thought. Those affected would also be compelled to spread the plague to others. But good found out about this plot, and came up with a solution. When both sides learned the others plan, it was mutually agreed to imprison both the plague and the good solution into two identical eggs. An ancient civilization found the eggs and the story, and marked the evil egg with every possible warning to stop it from being opened. Those fools at the museum must have done so against my advice. Honestly, why doesn’t anyone appreciate…?

Sarah poked him, “Can you finish the story?

“Finish the what? Oh, yes, now then the good egg was marked with the one description that would allow it to be used in case it was needed.

“What does the other egg say?” Jake asked

“Now, getting to the museum where the other egg is will be very dangerous. So I’ll stay here while you three go.

“What?! You won’t come with us?” Mina asked.

“No dear, bad back. Do try and stay alive.

“And exactly how are we supposed to get to downtown with all of Yoto currently under zombie attack?” Jake asked

“Oh, just borrow a hover sled. Or a tank. Or one of the giant robots. Really, must the genius think of everything?

“Fine,” Sarah said, “we’ll go. But are you sure this will work.

“Probably. Translation is a little difficult. I’ll keep working on it while you save the city. Hopefully it isn’t my second best guess at translation.

“I’m almost too scared to ask,” Jake said warily, “but what exactly is the second best guess?

“Oh, if I’m reading it wrong then the second egg contains a second great evil. This new evil shall battle the first evil and the winner will enslave humanity, ruin civilization, blah blah…chaos and plagues. I’m sixty percent sure it’s a good egg. Now, off you go!

* * *

The group took the hover sled to the museum. Looking over the side allowed them to see countless thousands of the zombies stalking the streets. “This is creepy,” Jake observed. “In fact, this day creates a whole new definition of creepy.

Sarah parked over the building, “Now, Mato said this window leads directly to the main test room. We need a plan

“No problem! If my video game skills kept me and Mina alive, then they’re good enough to save the world!” Jake thought for a second. “Okay, Sarah shall fire off high explosives to break open the roof. Mina, you summon lighting, which will probably turn out to summoning a polar bear, to keep the zombies off of me. Then, I simply bungee jump over the side and grab the egg so that when I shoot back up I can be pulled into the sled. This plan can not fail. Are you with me?” Jake turned to see Sarah pulling Mina back into the sled with the egg. “How did you…?”

“You were taking too long, here.” Sarah handed Jake the egg and a hammer they had brought with them

“For the record, I feel impotent,” Jake cracked it open. As the crack spread all over the egg, Jake looked up. “Um, here’s a thought. We’re not entirely sure if this is a good or bad egg. So, and this is just a thought, WHY THE HELL DO WE HAVE IT IN THE SLED WITH US?” All three looked down as light began to emerge.

“Oh crap…” Sarah breathed. Suddenly light engulfed the entire sled and spread beyond to the entire city. Every single zombie was overtaken by it. Then, slowly, the sphere retracted, leaving stunned citizens and relieved authorities in its path. Finally, the sphere retracted to a point above the sled, where a single being emerged. Everyone looked up to see a literal angel float down to them.

“She’s so pretty…” Mina breathed. No one disagreed. The angel had what must have been a perfect Bishoujo hourglass body, long white hair, and the softest blue eyes anyone had seen. She was wearing knee high, high-heeled boots, white skirt, and a silk shirt underneath a small suit of body armor which showed a surprising amount of cleavage for a holy being.

“Hello, my name is Lucia. I am the redeemer.

* * *

Jake, Mato, Jen, and Sarah were gathered around the couch that night as the news recapped the day’s events. Mato was especially giddy, “Now the city has doubled my funding! Oh, the experiments I shall do!

Jen was annoyed. “Okay, try to explain Lucia one more time

Sarah laughed and Jake smiled, “Sure. Lucia was the light’s solution to a plague. When the egg was opened, she was released and the resulting thousands of years of goodness she’d built up in stasis simply cancelled out the plague. Just like her creators thought it would. Since she’s never really had any interaction with people, she’ll just stay with us. Oh yeah, you can’t mention the whole angel thing to anyone, since we don’t need crazed cults and scientist barging in

Just then Dawn came strolling in, “Did you miss me the past month?

“Like a bad habit…” Sarah muttered

“Hooray! One of the babes has returned!” Mato exclaimed.

“That’s right. And now, be amazed at my new demon ability!” Suddenly, shadows drifted out of Dawn’s back and became bat wings.  “Do you like them?

“Great, now she’s even more dangerous,” Jen groaned.

“Nice, Lucia can make her wings do that too,” Jake said

“Who the hell is Lucia?” Dawn asked

“The angel who just moved in,” Sarah told her. “Why don’t you move out?

“What? My Jake would never ask another goody good to come move in and leave me outnumbered. Would you sweetie?” Dawn was standing in front of Jake, and bent over to look him in the face. Between her large breasts pushing against her top, and her hypnotic eyes, Jake decided that the ceiling was suddenly a very interesting place. “Please look me in the eye,” Dawn suddenly tilted his face down, “or lower if you prefer…” Sarah then hit her on the head with her night stick. “What did you do that for?!

“Stop trying to hypnotize Jake!

“You’re just jealous because I’m his favorite!

“Ha!” Sarah smiled evilly, “Everyone knows demons are ugly

“You take that back!

“Make me!” the two were on the verge of blows when suddenly Lucia entered the room.

“Thank you very much Prof. for allowing me to stay,” she said. What everyone was focused on, was the fact that Lucia was dressed in only a small towel at the moment.

“Uh, Lucia…” Jen squeaked out, “I know you’re new at this, but you should really wear something other than a towel…

“Oh? Oh no! I am so sorry! Please forgive me,” Lucia blushed fiercely. “Is this better?” Lucia then dropped the towel and was wearing…well…

All three girls blushed, Jake fell off the couch, and Mato grabbed a remote, “Security footage! I must have footage!

Jen jumped up embarrassed, “Lucia! You have to wear clothes! Lots of clothes!

“I do?” Lucia looked confused. “But you’re wearing little more than glorified underwear. What is the difference?” she asked innocently.

Jen began to sweat, “Um…genies…just are…

“How so?

Dawn began to walk toward her, “Allow me to show you…” Sarah grabbed her arm. “Hey! Let go!

“You just want to drain her to make yourself stronger!

“You say that like it’s a bad thing!” Sarah swung again, but this time Dawn flew out of the way, her new wings making her very fast. “Ha, too slow!” Dawn flew into the next room.

Sarah drew her gun and began firing as she chased Dawn, “You ARE a demon!

Jake managed to pull himself up to the couch again, “I think…I’m okay with…the amount of…nakedness…in this room now…

“So I need my angelic clothes after a shower? Or will any clothes do?” Lucia asked.

Jen breathed a sigh of relief, “Yes, that’s my explanation

“Okay, I’ll be back,” and with that Lucia literally bounced out of the room, causing more bouncing in certain areas, which in turn made Jake fall off the couch again.

Jen grabbed the towel and ran after her, “You have to wear something!

Jake pulled himself up a second time, “I attract the strangest people.

Mato laughed, “You attract the perfect house guests! By the way, I finally finished the translation of Lucia’s egg.

“Really? What important and holy message did it say?

“That’s easy. ‘In case of emergency, break egg.’ The ancients were an incredible race!

Jake hung his head, “I hate this screwed up dimension. The hypnosis doesn’t even begin to make up for this stuff.
